Together in Giving: Lesaffre Ethiopia Visits Babulkeyer NGO
During the holy month of Ramadan, the Lesaffre Ethiopia team took a meaningful pause from their daily activities to engage directly with the community and reinforce their commitment to social responsibility.
As part of this initiative, the team visited Babulkeyer NGO, an organization based in Addis Ababa that plays a critical role in addressing food insecurity, particularly in the Addis Ketema sub-city. Founded by a group of dedicated women and operating under license number 4513, the NGO runs daily feeding programs that provide essential support to vulnerable populations.
What made this visit especially impactful was witnessing the people behind the organization. Babulkeyer NGO is entirely led by women, with all board members and directors being female, and nearly 90% of the staff composed of women, many of whom are single mothers or widows. Their leadership and resilience reflect the powerful role women play in driving meaningful change within their communities.
Beyond food distribution, the NGO adopts a holistic approach to social support. It offers capacity-building and training programs across Addis Ababa, helping individuals develop skills and improve their livelihoods. In addition, the organization provides discreet financial assistance, sometimes covering rent or school fees to preserve dignity and independence. Donations of clean clothing further contribute to meeting essential needs.
For the Lesaffre Ethiopia team, this visit was more than a gesture of support. It was an opportunity to connect, listen, and share meaningful moments with the community. The experience highlighted the importance of presence, empathy, and human connection, values that are deeply aligned with the spirit of Ramadan.
Through this initiative, Lesaffre Ethiopia reaffirms its commitment to making a positive and lasting impact in the communities where it operates.
